3000 clock hour Master Barber Apprenticeship Program meets Georgia State Boards requirements. All essential components of hair science, styling and cutting are taught utilizing clippers, razors, and shears. The course of study includes but is not limited to instruction in mens’s haircutting and styling, hair coloring and lighting, client relations, and professionalism just to name a few.
With each phase we incorporate field lessons/field trips to reinforce and enhance the learning experience of our future professionals. Ex. during Phase I we climb Stone Mountain to demonstrate ones ability to persevere in the face of adversity. We also visit the Herndon Home Mansion Museum, which is apart of the legacy left behind by Alonzo Herndon a former slave that became not only a successful master barber but one of the wealthiest entrepreneurs/ businessmen in Atlanta Georgia during the early 1900s. A planned visit to Bodies the Exhibition at Atlantic Station, is where we get up close and personal with the systems of the body during our anatomy and physiology chapter and that’s just the tip of the iceberg . We are also in attendance at hairshows and barber competitions, to keep us abreast as to what’s new in the industry. We also service our community by providing free haircuts to the homeless and/or less fortunate.
Our program is a 24 month commitment where our future professionals will learn everything from the history of barbering to the essential tools and implements used in this profession,to the grave significance of sanitation and everything in between. We are committed to ensuring that all subject areas are mastered upon completion of the 3000 clock hours required.
